These rugs’ muted hues still speak volumes

Neutral in tone but not in spirit, we’ve compiled more than a dozen new rugs that get their personalities from pattern and texture. Some are dramatic; some play a more supporting role. You can see them at the Atlanta and Las Vegas summer markets and through JuniperMarket, too. (We recently did a showcase of colorful rugs that will light up a room.)

Studio A Home’s Concentric Circles rug proves neutral doesn’t mean staid. Based on original artwork by the Dallas-based company’s creative director George Sellers and designer Ely Sellers, the rug is hand tufted, with a viscose and wool construction. In fawn and black, the rug is available in standard sizes from 5’ x 8’ to 11’ x 14’. Sizes 12’ x 15’ and 12’ x 18’ are available by special order. (Atlanta Market, AmerciasMart, B1 14-C15)

With its nebulous design, this abstract rug from Nourison’s Prismatic collection brings cosmic energy to living spaces. Layers of soft gray are highlighted by swirls of carved golden accents that add dimension. It’s handmade from a blend of New Zealand wool silklike Luxcelle for lasting comfort, according to the company, based in Saddle Brook, New Jersey. (Las Vegas, World Market Center C112)

In natural and charcoal tones, the Hudson is a modern take on a traditional hand-woven rug from Amity Home, based in Irwindale, California. The Hudson’s high-low loop pile adds visual interest and subtle texture with an irregular hatch mark motif. In terms of construction, it combines the durability of wool with the softness of viscose. In three sizes, from 5’ x 7’ to 9’ x 12’. (Las Vegas, World Market Center, C596E) (JuniperMarket) (Atlanta Market AmericasMart B1 9-A21)

Capel’s Naturelle, an all-natural, undyed 100% wool area rug, lives up to its name. Braided with six-ply yarns that add strength and durability to the reversible rug. “It’s warm, cozy and comfortable — reminiscent of your favorite cable knit blanket,” says the Troy, North Carolina-based company. Available in round, oval and cross-sewn rectangle. (Las Vegas, World Market Center, A133)

Queue, shown here in denim, is new from Habit by Tamarian. Part of the Baltimore-based company’s Seasons of collections, it is made in India of all natural-fibers. The rug represents “a new jacquard quality in all wool (that) bolsters the flat-woven selections alongside the various pile/textured pieces in the line,” according to the company. Available in standard sizes. (Atlanta Market, AmericasMart B1 14-E18)

The Happy Chevron, shown here in seaglass, is part of the custom-cut performance rug line from Annie Selke’s Dash & Albert brand. The Pittsfield, Massachusetts-based company describes the rug’s design as a “classic zig-zag pattern with a basketweave texture that’s full of subtle color and complements any style.” Also available in navy, safe, platinum, pebble and gold colorways. (Atlanta Market, AmericasMart B1 15-A1)

The Sikri collection from Kaleen features sun-washed looks and faded patterns that give the appearance of a cherished heirloom in a new rug. Contemporary color palettes and over-scaled patterns work with any decor. Each of the Sikri rugs features hand-knotted construction of premium wool and cotton-blended yarn. With a low pile and open-back construction, the rugs are easy to move and suitable for high-traffic areas, says the Dalton, Georgia-based company. In custom sizes up to 15’ x 50’. (Las Vegas, World Market Center, C407)

Dynamic Rugs’ Annalise collection features traditional designs that add a layer of elegance to any room and neutral color tones to complement a variety of home decors. Rugs in the group are machine made in Turkey of polypropylene and shrink polyester to hold up in high-traffic areas while still being soft to the touch, says the company, which is based in Frederick, Maryland. KAS Rugs’ 2022 line includes collections made with yarn from recycled PET plastic bottles for a sustainability story. Charcoal Villa is part of the Dune group from the Somerset, New Jersey-based company. Also available in gray and sand colorways, and in sizes from 5’ x 8’ to 9’ x 12’ and as a runner. (Las Vegas, World Market Center B175)

The boldly simple Line Art rug is part of the Beni Ourain collection of handmade Moroccan wool rugs from Berbers Market in West Palm Beach, Florida. The geometric pattern is inspired by symbols of the traditional Berber culture of the Atlas tribes. Each handmade, hand-knotted 100% rug is unique. Available in 6’3” x 10’5” only. (JuniperMarket)

Unique Loom has added new colors and patterns, including this detailed design, to its licensed Uptown collection with style maven and former “The Real Housewives of New York” star Jill Zarin. The power-loomed rug is constructed in Turkey of polypropylene and polyester, making it easy to clean. Shown here in a deep blue colorway, it’s also available from the Fort Mill, South Carolina-based company in gray and teal colorways. (Las Vegas, World Market Center B424)

Lexington, Kentucky-based Fibreworks’ Old Hollywood rug features a dramatic classic houndstooth pattern. It’s made of wool and sisal and is available in custom sizes. Shown here in Debonair with a linen border, it comes in three other colorways, too. (Las Vegas Market, World Market Center, C589)
