Gail Doby’s consultancy surveying designers about state of the industry

Gail Doby Coaching & Consulting is conducting a survey, “2022 Interior Designers Survey on Fees, Salaries and Competing for Talent,” tailored to help the consultancy’s clients understand the current state of the industry and challenges firms face as attitudes about the workforce have shifted.

Designers who participate will receive a complimentary copy of the results in advance of their general release and will be entered into drawings for prizes.

“Our goal with this survey is to glean information that will help us guide our clients through a changing landscape in the interior design world,” said Gail Doby, chief vision officer of Gail Doby Coaching & Consulting, based in Denver. “The questions in the survey are strategically developed so we can use the information to improve different areas of an interior design business. This is an industrywide initiative, and we strongly encourage designers to participate.”

For today’s firms, salaries and fees are a large part of the equation, the consultancy says in a news release, but as the country comes out of the pandemic and fears of a recession loom, decisions also need to be made regarding freight costs, fully remote teams, hybrid models and flexible work hours to assure highly diverse teams and cultures.

“The survey will allow us to efficiently collect honest feedback, opinions and responses so we can use that information to help improve different areas of an interior design business,” said Erin Weir, co-founder and vice president of Gail Doby Coaching & Consulting. “Owners, in particular, will directly benefit from their participation because the results will allow them to gain insights for benchmarking their businesses.”

The 40-question survey takes approximately 8-10 minutes to complete. All responses will be anonymous and confidential. The survey can be found at https://gaildoby.com/ids2022-tmm.
