Kevin O’Brien Studio debuts new brand and expands outdoors

Kevin O’Brien Studio, a Philadelphia-based luxury textile brand, is introducing two new collections this fall.

The Chevron pillow collection is part of the new Valentine Lyon brand from KOBS.

Its new Valentine Lyon brand is designed to broaden the company’s customer base by offering products in a more “approachable price point bracket” that will appeal to “aspirational luxury shoppers,” the company says.

In terms of style and function, the company describes Valentine Lyon as featuring “versatile looks and easy-care attributes for lasting and livable decor.”

Initially, the Valentine Lyon line will include three styles of decorative pillows: box, embroidered and two tone. KOBS has plans to expand the line to throws and fashion bedding for a complete textile program. The Valentine Lyon collection pillows and throws will retail from about $96 to $168.

“Valentine Lyon is our love letter to our customers, existing and new,” says KOBS founder Kevin O’Brien. “It’s luxury for everyone: sophisticated, bohemian, traditional, contemporary and you.”

At the Atlanta Market in July, KOBS previewed a new line of outdoor fabrics. The new KOBS Outdoor Fashion Fabrics collection is made of durable, stain-resistant and fade-resistant performance fabrics that are manufactured domestically by Valdese Weavers through its InsideOutside Performance Fabrics brand in Valdese, North Carolina. The fabrics are cut and sewn in-house by KOBS.

The Pinwheel indoor/outdoor performance fabric is available as yardage or on pillows.

The fabrics are available as yardage (for indoor/outdoor upholstery) and, this fall, KOBS is introducing finished decorative pillows (about $160 retail). The initial fabric collection includes five original patterns and neutral colorways the company says are “designed to look fresh yet feel familiar.”

“We took our style sense and added some sunblock to it,” says Angela Vosburgh, KOBS chief operating officer and creative director. “Our customers have been asking us for a way to reimagine our unique aesthetic for outdoor decor. We’re delivering on that demand with an unparalleled collection that fills a void in the marketplace – soft luxury fabrics with an incredible hand, inviting texture and sophisticated design.”

KOBS is offering Valentine Lyon pillows first but is also planning throws, like this Cloud collection, and other bedding textiles.

KOBS’ pillows and bedding are handmade to order at the company’s headquarters facility in Philadelphia with hand embroidery done at the company’s studio in Nepal.
