Designer dollhouses auctioned to benefit a shelter for cancer families

Houston interior designer Alexandra Killion’s second annual La Petite Maison Gala will take place on October 12 at The Junior League of Houston. This year, a new architect, builder, and group of distinguished designers will convene to create a collection of one-of-a kind dollhouses. The gala will continue to benefit A Shelter for Cancer Families (ASCF), an organization that provides private residences and support services for families receiving cancer care in the Texas Medical Center.

To help support the people of Maui after the recent wildfire tragedy, the Housewares Charity Foundation (HCF) has established a fund for donations and will match contributions dollar-for-dollar up to $100,000 in total. Donations will go to support the Maui Strong Fund and Team Rubicon Disaster Relief.

The Common Thread for the Cure Foundation, founded in 2000, supports individuals fighting breast cancer who are affiliated with the furnishings and design industries by offering financial assistance through confidential Helping Hands Grants. The grants aid breast cancer patients and their families in areas where insurance does not apply. For example, a grant can be used to meet financial obligations, household needs and transportation to medical appointments. The intent of the grants is to enhance the quality of life for those who have breast cancer enabling them to maintain as normal a lifestyle as possible while they are confronting the disease. To date, the foundation has raised over $1 million to provide grants to individuals throughout North America.
