It’s five o’clock somewhere: Universal’s Weekender Collection brings a restorative feeling to every day

HIGH POINT, N.C., April 20, 2023 – Like the iconic luggage piece which shares its name, Universal Furniture and Coastal Living’s new Weekender Collection channels relaxation and a sense of retreat. But rather than just the traditional two days of freedom, Weekender brings the spirit of comfortable and unhurried ease into the home the whole week through.

“As the last few years have shown us, self-care has become essential for well-being. People crave spaces for restoration, and Weekender speaks to that need,” said Universal Furniture Senior Vice President Marketing Neil MacKenzie.

This is the third indoor collection from the Universal/Coastal Living collaboration and the fourth overall. It follows on the remarkable success of the Escape and Getaway collections, introduced in 2018 and 2020, respectively. The Coastal Living Outdoor collection debuted in the fall of 2020.

The Coastal Living brand is part of the DotDash Meredith media company, which reaches 178 million consumers each month through its publications like Coastal Living, Better Homes and Gardens and Martha Stewart.

“Coastal Living has strong brand loyalty and reaches the upper-end home furnishings buyer,” says MacKenzie. “And because it is a trusted brand with an engaged audience, it creates an opportunity to leverage their print and online tools to reach the customer and drive traffic to our retail partners.”

Weekender features more than 80 new designs for bedroom, living, dining, kitchen and office. Comfortable, unhurried, and a bit—dare we say—bohemian, it features warm woods, time-worn finishes, an abundance of rattan and softs boucles, a sea of blues and soft whites, and a touch of acrylic that lends a modern feel. White and blue paint finishes mingle with whitewash and the native colors of seagrass and rattan.
