Oblique, a collection that blends elegant simplicity with sober graphics and
powdered colors.

The Oblique collection, designed by British creator Matthew Hilton, captures the most
contemporary conceptualization of the tradition of overlaying rugs. This proposal is
achieved through the juxtaposition of oblique figures, resulting in a contrivance of
monochromatic volumes.

The design, determined by two, clearly differentiated planes, was obtained through a
combination of techniques and generation of textures. This subtle rug uses geometrical
finesse to add volume to its surroundings.
Oblique is an elegant, minimalist collection that fits easily into any space. Its soft tones
make this an unassuming collection that nevertheless contributes movement and
volume through the two techniques used: hand-knotted and sumak weave. The
movement is supplied by two overlapping pieces that, depending on their arrangement
in the space, can complement very different furniture layouts.

This time around, color remains an important element of the design, but the chosen
palette is of warm, powdery tones, including pink, beige, earth and ochre; very earthy
colors that naturally harmonize, creating bright, fresh and contemporary spaces.

About Matthew Hilton
Born and raised on the south coast of Hastings, England, Hilton always gravitated towards

Haze
Begüm Cânâ Özgür

A new collection designed by Begüm Cânâ Özgür, in which colors quiver
between memories and reminiscences.
Building on the success of our first collaboration with the Turkish designer back in
2017, we present a new collection inspired by the harmony of colors drawn from
nature. In this unique coevality, the colors speak to each other, generating a visual
balance resulting from visual sensitivity; they interact, while becoming hard to control.
Unlike other creative processes, Haze is a rug devised directly on the loom, as the designer experimented with chromatic interactions and color fading by means of mixing
colors optically.

In this collection, a very simple graphic intention is pursued with the aim of highlighting
color in all its splendor. The design has been worked on from two perspectives: on the
one hand, the colors themselves and their interactions; and on the other hand, the
design of the texture, that is, the superficial graphic lines that follow the warp. The
challenge was to strike the right balance between graphic design, number of warps and
thickness of weft.
Haze is woven using 50% New Zealand wool and 50% Italian wool, a noble and warm
material that is easy to look after and hard wearing. As Begüm Cânâ Özgür points out,
“This fiber restores in us that connection with earth and nature that we often miss so
much in modern buildings.”
This collection is the culmination of a reflection on the meaning of contrast in colors
(tone, value, temperature and saturation), in which the simplicity of the graphic design
aspect gives way to the power of color.

About Begüm Cânâ Özgür

Following her graduation from Cranbrook Academy of Art, 3D design department,
Begüm Cânâ Özgür started her studio in 2014, based in Istanbul where the cultural
richness of the land has been the major motive in her work, developing an interest in
ancient craft practices.With a focus on textiles, rugs and the weaving culture, Begüm
Cana Özgür collaborates with global brands in development of design products. In
2015, she started an initiative through her namesake brand to introduce a
contemporary design approach to the traditional culture of weaving in
Anatolia. Collaborating with the local crafts people, she creates a contemporary
expression through the traditional culture of weaving.

Doblecara
Ronan Bouroullec

Lines, strokes and geometry remain a constant throughout the joint rug designs by
Ronan Bouroullec & nanimarquina. Doblecara is the latest of several collaborations
between the two designers aimed at merging the ancient technique kilim technique with
the modernity of Bouroullec designs.

This time around, the designer has opted to reflect the spirit of geometry through subtle
linear and intermittent strokes ending in a blurred point, creating a sense of movement
in the viewer’s eye. The choice of technique was key to the development of Doblecara:
for the first time, the ancestral kilim and its reminiscences of things past have been
combined with hand-knotting to create the lines, giving the rug great strength and
rhythm.

The mastery and indefatigable desire to always go one step further resulted in this
collection with a double meaning. Doblecara is a reversible rug, both sides of which
can be enjoyed, the ‘B’ side being the most subtle and delicate, while the ‘A’ side
shows the straight-lined design in its maximum expression.

The collection is made from hand-spun Afghan wool. Its rustic appearance and the
irregularities of the wool combine in a unique rug that evidences the beauty and
authenticity of the craftsmanship involved.

ivory-red, ivory-ivory.

About Ronan Bouroullec

Ronan Bouroullec is a French designer born in Quimper (Brittany) in 1971. He went to the École
Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d’Art when he was 17. The following year
he exhibited for the first time at the Salon du Meuble in Paris. This determined the beginning of
his collaboration with French design companies, with numerous design projects during his student
days given precedence over his college work. He continued his studies at the École Nationale
Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. In 1996, his Vase Soliflore took its place in the Centre Pompidou’s
permanent collection. In 1997, the Néotù gallery gave him his first solo exhibition with Vase
Combinatoires. Giulio Cappellini noticed his work at the Paris Salon du Meuble, giving him the
opportunity to create his first pieces of industrial design, and he was awarded the Grand Prix du
Design by the City of Paris. Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec‘s designs span multiple fields of
expression from craftsmanship to mass production and have gradually entered our daily lives.

About nanimarquina

nanimarquina was founded by Nani in 1987 with a singular wish: “I wanted to design rugs that
were visually amazing, that people would enjoy.” Constantly seeking innovative use of
techniques and materials, nanimarquina is a pioneering family business, designing and making

highly individual, contemporary rugs. While the company is based in Barcelona and New York,
all manufacturing takes place in India and Pakistan, revealing the limitless possibilities of the
artisans. The company collaborates with renowned national and international designers to
guarantee the diversity of styles and experimentation with textures, materials and shapes the
company has become known for. The result is a unique nanimarquina rug for each person, for
each space, for each emotion.
