Interior designer John McClain is teaming up with home decor brand SmithHönig to host a holiday party showcasing the best of Dalton, Georgia style. The party, at Patterson Farms Design Center in Dalton, will be from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3.

McClain and SmithHönig will provide tips and tricks for holiday tablescapes with a live demonstration, followed by a book signing celebrating the release of McClain’s book, The Designer Within: A Professional Guide to a Well-Styled Home. McClain was born and raised in Dalton; SmithHönig is based there.

The holiday tablescape demonstration will be curated by McClain and include signature SmithHönig patterns and pieces inspired by co-founders Kellie Smith’s and Melanie Hönig’s world travels. McClain will share his professional expertise in creating a picture-perfect table setting, incorporating centerpieces, selecting china and silverware for holiday gatherings, and other essential design basics.

Attendees will be able to purchase a signed copy of McClain’s newly released book immediately following the presentation. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served.

McClain has turned his lifetime passion for design into an opportunity to teach others all of the essential tips and tricks of the trade with the release of his first book. The Designer Within serves as a roadmap for aspiring interior design professionals and homeowners by pulling back the curtain to reveal each step of the design process, from conception to completion. McClain breaks down the requirements for professionally designing every type of space, from kitchens to powder rooms, giving readers a list of actionable items to implement within their own homes and projects. The book’s pages are also illustrated with his many designs over the years, from traditional to midcentury modern to contemporary, making it the perfect addition to any coffee table.
