It was a year of great furniture design and to close 2022, we wanted to bring you a few of our favorite pieces featured in Decor News Now since our launch last spring. It wasn’t easy to choose: We tried to limit ourselves to 12 but snuck in a few more. (For a look at the year in accessories, click here.)

What piece stood out to you this year?

The Hanna console earned the Green Leaf Award during this year’s Pinnacle Awards presented by the International Society of Furniture Designers. It was designed by Jim Liu for Greenington Fine Bamboo Furniture.

Games aren’t just for kids. Four Hands’ sophisticated Ping Pong table converts to a dining table that seats 10 when the net is removed. It’s part of a line of games and game tables the company introduced last summer.

This inviting chaise is part of the Erinn V. x Universal collection launched in April and expanded in October. Designed by Erinn Valencich, the collection exudes California cool: natural, approachable, casual.

Designed by Cindy Hall for Sherrill Furniture’s brand Sherrill Occasional, the Luca chest features an inlaid floral design accented with stainless steel legs. It won the 2022 RED Award for Furniture Design in the case goods category.

This sofa armchair from Hurtado Furniture is part of its Coral group. The armchair (and sectional sofa not shown) features a metal base and legs, and wood inlays on the arms. It’s available in different wood and metal finishes.

Sarreid Ltd. built on the success of its round Jupe extension dining tables with the Italian-made Cambiare model introduced in the fall. Before expansion, the table seats six but when fully extended to about 99 inches by 55 inches, it seats 12 comfortably.

A silvered chalk finish on its faux crocodile door fronts makes this credenza from John-Richard a standout. The Sorano brown case sits atop an arched steel base finished in antique pewter.

The inviting Dune swivel lounge chair is from Mobital. Dressed in a textural teddy fabric, it comes in Army, Cream and Rose hues.

Palecek’s Camilla table has a stonecast base made from a tree trunk mold and an inlaid fossilized clam shell top. It was a favorite of buyers at the summer Las Vegas Market, who gave it a People’s Choice honor.

Currey & Company’s Koji nightstand brings a serene presence to a space. Its curved sides and feet emulate calligraphy shapes found in Asian characters. The drawers and inset top are covered in cream-colored faux shagreen.

The Haleyon sideboard, with carved details on the door fronts and brushed gold legs and hardware, is part of the Traveled and Found collection from Porter Designs.

Architect and interior designer Lauren Rottet introduced the Aurora glass table as part of her Rottet Collection furniture line last summer.

Erika Cross’ Anvil table earned an INNOVATION + DESIGN Award from the International Society of Furniture Designers in the occasional table category.

This side table from Nathan Anthony Furniture has a novel upholstery shell — the company suggests an eco-friendly vinyl or vegan leather cover to dress it. The hand-turned legs and drawer façade are made with sustainably harvested alder wood, and those components can be customized in 10 finishes.

The Nash coffee table from  Moe’s Home Collection combines a retro sensibility with a contemporary spirit. Constructed of a birch wood frame with a burl wood veneer, the simple silhouette puts the focus on the richness of the natural wood grain.
